After picking up all guests at their hotel in Cancun, we will drive 3 hours to reach Rio Lagartos village in Yucatan. Shortly before we arrive, we will stop at a mini market. You will be able to go to the bathroom and buy breakfast before the tour. Then on board a traditional boat at Rio Lagartos port. Our guide and the boat captain are friendly and knowledgeable and will show you the animals living in the lagoon and explain you more about this amazing national park.
Relax during Rio Lagartos boat tour
You will have the opportunity to look for birds, crocodiles, and other creatures during our boat tour on the lagoon. We will also stop by the salt factory so you can observe Las Coloradas pink lakes from a first spot. There you will try the Mayan spa, natural skin care product from the lagoon.
After a couple hours exploring Rio Lagartos national park, we will have lunch at a local restaurant.
Get the best picture spot at the pink lakes
We will then drive to the pink lakes of Las Colaradas so you can take pictures. Colors change according to the weather and lighting so you might see shades of pink that different from the one you saw in the morning.
Be sure to bring your camera to get the most from this magical place! Your guide will bring you to the best picture spot. You could also dress up to get even awesome pictures: bright colors contrast with the water in a delighting way. Finally, your guide will be able to explain you about this place, its history and the salt fabrication process.
Then it will be time to drive back to your hotel in Cancun.
- The pink lake is pink all year long, however we never know how “pink” it will look like in advance, it depends on a combination of salt production and weather conditions.
- Las Coloradas is a private property owned by the salt factory. It is not allowed to have a walk within the property. We will bring you to the authorized area where tourists are allowed to access with a guide and take pictures.
- The tour is taking place in the wild, we can not guarantee if you will see all birds and animals, neither how many or from a close distance or not.
